How do I make a career plan in school?
Write a chain you can test: possible career → possible course → possible university or training route → next twelve months. Update it when facts change. A plan is a working document, not a vow.
A practical planning sequence
Skip a step and the next one becomes guesswork.
- Explore: what work exists beyond the titles you already know
- Understand: interests, strengths, subjects you can sustain
- Compare: courses, institutions, costs, locations
- Decide: choose a direction you can explain, not a fantasy you cannot fund
- Plan: exams, applications, money questions, backups
- Build: skills, projects, exposure that match the direction
Backups are part of a serious plan
A backup is not a failure. Many Indian undergraduate routes have more than one entrance or more than one kind of institution. Write the backup while you still like yourself. Do not wait until a result night.
